For the second year in a row, police officers at the Fairview Township Police Department are participating in an event called No-Shave November. In exchange for raising at least $200 for charity, our officers are given a waiver from department policy and may put down their razors and grow their facial hair. While officers enjoy letting their facial hair grow out, their real motivation is raising money for a children's charity. You may recall that last year our officers raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. That campaign was tremendously successful and has everybody excited to be involved again.
This year the department has chosen the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Children's Hospital as our charity. A donation through our page will insure that the money donated stays local and helps serve the Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York region. The money supports research and training, the purchasing of equipment and to pay for uncompensated care. This year, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country will provide $3.4 billion in charity care alone.
The officers that are participating in this event are accepting donations now. We even have a couple officers who will not be growing a beard, but are still participating because they believe in raising money for this great cause. Join us in supporting the unbelievable work that the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Children's Hospital does, and help an officer put his razor away for the month of November!
