In 2023, the Fairview Township Police Department partnered with the West Shore School District to start a school resource officer (SRO) program and place an experienced police officer in Red Land High School. Officer Jason Lotier was selected to become our first School Resource Officer. Jason has been with the Fairview Township Police Department since 2005. He has held many roles during that time including being a Detective, a TEAM and DARE instructor, and being a Department Firearms Instructor. He has also served his country as a United States Marine.
Officer Lotier's primary responsibility as an SRO is the safety of the school community. Working cooperatively with the armed District Security Guard, he monitors the school and performs random foot patrols of the property throughout the day. In addition to security, Officer Lotier has taken on an educational role as well as acting as a mentor for students of all backgrounds. He has earned the trust and respect of the school community through his ability to interact respectfully with everybody regardless of their background or history and through his fair application of the law in the school setting.
There are a number of ways to reach Officer Lotier if you need to speak to him. During the school year, he can be reached through his West Shore School District email address, jlotier@wssd.k12.pa.us, or through his phone number at the high school, 717-938-6561 ext. 239. During the summer, he can best be reached through his department email, jlotier@fairviewpolice.org, or through his department phone number, 717-901-5216.
