This is an update on our release regarding the discovery of human remains that were found in the 300 block of Pleasant View Road.  On December 9, 2024 the Fairview Township Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Pleasant View Road for a report of human remains found in a wooded area.  To this point, police have been able to determine that the remains belonged to a female.  The remains had been at that location for a very long period of time.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.  Police are still working on trying to determine who she is and have submitted samples for DNA testing.  Police are pursuing various other avenues of investigation as well.  We will update the public on this as more information can be made available.  No additional information will be released until that time.  There is no risk to the public as a result of this incident.

The Fairview Township Police Department has been assisted on this investigation by the York County Coroner's Office, the York County Forensics Team, the York County Detectives Office, and the Mercyhurst Forensic Scene Recovery Team.
