On January 6th, 2020 the York City Police Department swore in four new Probationary Police Officers. They are Matthew W. Tamanosky, Ryan J. McGeehan, Joseph P. Abate III, and Kathleen A. Tankesley.
Matthew Tamanosky graduated from Cumberland Valley High School before attending Mansfield University where he played Division 2 Basketball while receiving a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration.
Ryan McGeehan graduated from Grove City High school before attending Slippery Rock University where he played roller hockey while receiving a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Before being hired by the York City Police Department McGeehan worked for the York County Probation Department as a Juvenile GVI Officer.
Joseph Abate III graduated from Dover High School before attending Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts/Criminal Justice. Abate was employed by York County Prison as a Corrections Officer before being hired by the York City Police Department.
Kathleen Tankesley graduated from Hempfield High School before attending California University of PA where she played soccer and rugby while receiving a Bachelor’s in Psychology.
This swearing in was held during a short ceremony at York City Hall and was presided over by Mayor Helfrich and Chief Bankert. Each of these four Probationary Police Officers will spend a week of orientation before attending the Police Academy in Harrisburg.
