Recent Gun Arrests
The York City Police Department has been working diligently over the last few weeks to remove firearms that are unlawfully possessed from the streets of York City.
Below are some of the latest arrests made.
February 13th, 2021
- York City Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Boundary and Queen St. at 11:30pm. The vehicle failed to yield and after a brief vehicle pursuit, the driver of the vehicle fled on foot and was apprehended. Kaewan Matthews was found to be concealing a Glock 357 semi-automatic pistol without a license and was in possession of illegal controlled substances. Kaewan Matthews was charged with felony and misdemeanor charges.
February 19th, 2021
- York City Police officers recognized suspicious activity from a vehicle. When attempting to investigate, the driver of the vehicle fled on foot. After a foot pursuit and the driver resisting arrest, officers were able to effect the arrest. The subject, Gerald Williams Jr, was found to be in possession of a stolen SCCY 9mm semi-automatic pistol as well as illegal controlled substances. Gerald Williams Jr was taken to central booking to answer to felony and misdemeanor charges.
February 22nd, 2021
- York City Police officers were dispatched out to the 700 block of W. Poplar St for the report of someone shooting. Officers found that the suspect had run into a nearby business and hid. Through their tactical training and de-escalation techniques, York City Police Officers safely took James Perez into custody without any further incident. Officers recovered a 9mm firearm that Perez used to shoot in the neighborhood damaging several community member’s property. Perez was charged with the 9mm handgun and recklessly endangering another person.
February 24th, 2021
- York City Police officers arrested Saquan Darby was arrested in the 600 block of W. King St. and recovered a Ruger 22LR Revolver along with illegal controlled substances. Darby was also found to be wanted. He was taken to central booking and charged with felony and misdemeanor charges.
February 24th, 2021
- Members of the Group Violence Initiative law enforcement team conducted a traffic stop on in the area of 901 W. Princess St. The team developed probable cause and had a search warrant signed for the vehicle. The search yielded one black 1911 .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, one black Glock 20 semi-automatic pistol, several different types of illegal controlled substances, paraphernalia, and cash. The GVI team arrested Miguel Perez, Bryon Gray, and Luis Class-Vazquez for various felony firearm violations and drug violations.
