York City Police Arrest Man For Attempted Manslaughter On Officer And Additional Charges

On Friday, March 25th, 2022, at approximately 11:47pm, York City Police investigated an armed robbery in the 500 block E. Philadelphia St. During the investigation, a York City police officer located the suspect in the 400 block of Walnut St. The officer attempted to stop the suspect, but he fled on foot. While fleeing from the officer, the suspect fired a shot in the officer’s direction. The officer pursued the suspect but was unable to apprehend him. A short time later officers were notified of another armed robbery with the same suspect description.
Officers located and apprehended the suspect, identified as Anthony GOTWALT, in the 100 blk E. Clarke Ave. GOTWALT, 21 of York, was found to be possession of items stolen during the robberies, as well as a firearm. GOTWALT was turned over to central booking for arraignment.
GOTWALT is being charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted manslaughter of a law enforcement officer
- Aggravated assault
- Robbery
- Possession of a firearm prohibited
- Firearms not to be carried without a license
- Recklessly endangering another person
- Simple assault
- Criminal mischief
- Disorderly conduct
- Public drunkenness
