The York City Police Department would like to announce the promotion of three of its Officers. On December 19th, 2019 the York City Police Department promoted Lt Daniel Aikey to the rank of Captain, and Officers Daniel Craven and Officer Chuck Crumpton to the rank of Detective.
Captain Aikey will have twenty-six years with the York City Police Department in January of 2020. He started work as a patrolman and quickly moved up to Corporal. This was a position that was a field training officer within the City Police Department. He was then promoted to Sergeant in 2001 where he supervised officers in patrol and in the Southwest Neighborhood Unit. In 2017 he was promoted to Lieutenant where he worked in training and accreditation. Captain Aikey is an October 2019 Graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. He is married with two adult children and a grandchild.
Detective Craven has 16 years with the York City Police Department. Detective Craven started as a patrolman and was also a defensive tactics instructor and crime scene technician. Detective Craven worked in the Southwest Neighborhood Unit for 6 years before being assigned to the detective bureau investigating crimes against persons. Detective Craven has a master’s degree in history.
Detective Crumpton will have nine years with the York City Police Department in January of 2020. Detective Crumpton started work as a patrolman and during his time on patrol was a field training officer. After a few years on patrol he was assigned to and spent 5 years on the East End Neighborhood Enforcement Unit. In August of 2013 Detective Crumpton became a Negotiator on the York County Quick Response Team. Detective Crumpton has spent the last year and a half in the detective bureau working specifically in the City Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit. Prior to his time with the Police Department Detective Crumpton worked as a Correctional Officer for a short while and played professional baseball. Detective Crumpton is married and has two children.
