Update #1
Thanks to the concern of our community, the cooperation of our partners, and the efforts of our Officers, the 14yr old (involved in several of the most violent incidents and ongoing issues) has been taken into custody and placed at a local youth facility; and Officers are continuing to work on identifying and dealing with the rest of the group. Hopefully this intervention will be the begining of this young man getting the help he needs to change his trajectory". -Commissioner Muldrow
To: Our Community
Please be advised, our department has been responding to ongoing issues involving a specific group of disorderly juveniles, for approx one week now.
The group (to include: an extremely problematic 14yr old from York, and a 15yr old from Hanover, both known to us), have been identified as being responsible for multiple incidents, occuring throughout our Rockdale Neighborhood, the City's southeast, West Manchester, Springettsbury, and Northern Regionals area.
Our Officers presently have charges for at least two of these incidents, thus far (involving physical attacks, and the use of pellet guns, against people and property); and we are currently working with the York City School District, District Attorney's Office, authorities in Hanover, Children & Youth, and York County Probation for assistance with both these juveniles (as cooperation with the family, charges, and potential placement fall under their purview). We hope to have some resolution and relief (before incidents with the group worsen), and we ask our Rockdale residents, and our public (as a whole) to continue to call when and if they encounter this group, or any other groups displaying such disorderly behaviors.
As always, thank you for your patience and cooperation. We will get this dealt with, together.
Respectfully,
Michael Muldrow
York City Police Commissioner
