On December 12th, 2019 at approximately 5:01 PM the York City Police Department responded to the 400 block of W. College Ave for the report of a shooting.  Once on scene Officers discovered one 17-year-old female, Emily Shoemaker, of Dover, and one 17-year-old male also of Dover. The female victim had been the driver of a Green Kia Soul and this vehicle was discovered to have struck another white Volvo and then a tree.

The female was found to have a gunshot wound and was immediately transported to York Hospital where she ultimately passed away from her injuries.  The male victim also suffered from one gun shot wound and a laceration to his head from the accident.  He was also transported to York Hospital for his injuries where he is listed in stable condition.  While at York Hospital Officers located a third, 16-year-old male victim, who was also of Dover.  He was at York Hospital for treatment of a broken arm.  He had been in the vehicle with the two other teens but left before the arrival of police.  His injuries were from the vehicle accident and he was not injured from a bullet as initially believed.

Further investigation revealed that this vehicle with these three occupants had been driving west bound on College Ave from the area of S. George St.  At some point in the area of College and Beaver St. another vehicle shot into the victims’ car.  The suspect vehicle then fled the area.  The victims continued travelling west on College Ave until the time of the accident.  This incident is not believed to be random and the York City Police Department is still investigating this incident.
