On February 28th, 2020 at approximately 6:54 PM the York City Police Department received a call for a reported rape/sexual assault/kidnapping incident in the 500 block of S. Queen St. On scene Officers spoke with an adult female victim who reported that she was walking north in the area of Kings Mill Rd at Jessop Pl. She reported she was approached from behind by a larger black male, who grabbed her, pushed her down, and then forced her to his vehicle.
The victim reported that the defendant then drove her to an unknown location and threatened to kill her if she didn’t do what he told her to do and, threatened her with a knife. Victim states the defendant then raped her and dropped her off in the 500 block of S. Queen St which is when she called Police. Victim described the defendant as a tall black male, with facial hair, husky build, and eyes popping out of his head.
Based off the description provided, and during further investigation, York City Police Detective Hower developed Randy Jay Jones, 41 of York as a suspect. Jones matches the description provided by the victim and lives in close proximity to where the victim was dropped off after the incident.
A search warrant for Jones’ house at 526 S. Queen St was then received and executed. During a search of the residence, items taken from the victim were discovered, along with the clothes Jones was wearing during the incident.
Jones was then charged with the following crimes in relation to this incident: Kidnap to Facilitate a Felony; Rape Forcible Compulsion, IDSI Forcible Compulsion; Robbery; Unlawful Restraint; False Imprisonment; Terroristic Threats; Simple Assault; Indecent Assault; and Theft by Unlawful Taking.
He was transported to Central Booking and was arraigned by Judge Eckenrode who set bail at $200,000.
