On October 25, 2019 at 10:51 PM the York City Police Department responded to the 400 block of W. King St for the report of a shooting.  Once there they discovered two adult male victims outside, both of which had been shot.  The victims were a Solomon Moore, 31, of York and Devon Moore, 26, of York.  Solomon Moore passed away as a result of his injuries.  Devon Moore was found in the 400 block of W. King St with a gunshot wound.  He was transported to York Hospital and listed in stable condition.

During the investigation Officers recovered several empty .40 caliber shell casings and, a firearm.  The firearm was discovered in the wheel well of a car and, was within arm’s reach of where Devon Moore had been found when Police and emergency medical services arrived.  The pistol was a .40 caliber and it was empty with the slide locked back.  This would indicate that any and all rounds had been fired and the gun was now empty. 

Video surveillance was recovered in the area of the shooting.  Video shows Marvin Butler, 29 of York and another known individual walking to the area of 489 W. King St. at approximately 10:40 PM. A short while after this Devon Moore, and Solomon Moore can be seen walking towards 489 W. King St.  As Devon Moore and Solomon Moore reach the area where Butler is standing, Devon Moore and Marvin Butler begin to shoot at each other.  Solomon Moore was located to the right of Devon Moore and is seen falling to the ground and then running westbound.  Devon Moore also falls to the ground however he and Butler continue to shoot at each other.  Marvin Butler then flees the area.   Through further investigation and several witnesses, Marvin Butler was positively identified as the shooter that fled the scene.

Butler has previous felony charges and is being charged with Criminal Homicide, Criminal Homicide-Attempt, and Persons Not to Possess, Use, Manufacture, Control, Sell or Transfer Firearms.

Butler is described as a black male, 5'08" approximately 180 pounds and is pictured along with this post. Police are still looking for information on Butler’s whereabouts. 

Due to Devon Moore’s negligent acts, attempting to kill Marvin Butler by shooting at him multiple times, Solomon Moore is deceased.  Devon Moore is being charged with Criminal Homicide, Criminal Homicide-Attempt, and Firearms Not to be Carried Without a License.  He is to be arraigned on these charges.
