Rescued Owl Saved by Police

On 12/5/2022 at 1022 p.m., Penn Township Police Officer David Irvin was dispatched to the area of Wilson Avenue near Karen Lane for an injured owl laying on the roadway. Upon arrival, Officer Irvin searched and located the owl face down on the shoulder of the road. Upon moving the owl, the officer noticed that its beak was covered in blood and acting lethargic.

Officer Irvin was able to contact a representative with Pennsylvania Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators who responded to take custody of the owl. It’s believed that the owl suffered a head injury.

We are happy to report that the owl is alive and is being cared for at a local rehabilitation center. Job well done to the caller who called 911, Officer Irvin for responding, locating and seeking additional resources and the Pennsylvania Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators for their assistance in this case.
