On May 22, 2019 at 08:00pm officer's were dispatched to the Smoker's Outlet located at 1636 W Market Street for a suspicious person. Caller stated that she was driving to the Smoker's Outlet and was stopped at the red light at W Market St and S Sumner St when they observed a black male wearing all black clothing with the hood up over his head. Caller stated that the male was black, skinny and approximately 5'5" or 5'6" tall. Caller stated the was suspiciously looking around the corner toward the front of the store. Caller stated that there were in fear that the male was going to "rob" the store. At that time the male was not located.
At approximately 09:35pm officer's were dispatched to Dollar General located at 1240 W Market Street for a black male in a dark hoodie and dark pants hiding around the corner. Caller stated that her husband witnessed the male and stated he thinks the subject was going to rob an unsuspected individual.
Officer's arrived and approached on foot. Suspect, who was later identified as Tevin Smith, was standing on the west side of the Dollar General building in all black clothing with a dark cloth around the bottom of his face, black long sweatpants, and the hood of his sweatshirt over his head.
Smith fled the scene and displayed a Silver knife in his hand while continuing to flee south bound. Smith was then apprehended.
