On 7/5/2019 at 1307 hours, an Officer from the West Manchester Township Police Department was dispatched to the Kohl’s Store located at 200 Town Center Drive for a report of a retail theft in progress. The Loss Prevention Officer had given the description of a Hispanic male wearing a white tank top and blue shorts was last seen running behind the Outback Steakhouse and may have gotten into a vehicle. The Officer responded to the area and checked for the subject before meeting the LPO in the LP Office.
The LPO stated that the actor, later identified as Jonathan Ortiz, entered the store at 1259 hours and went to the footwear section. Ortiz selected a pair of Nike shoes that were listed for sale for $65.00. Ortiz then took the shoes to the men's changing room where he swapped out his shoes for the ones in the box. Ortiz then exited the store and ran from the LPO when he was approached.
The surveillance video showed that Ortiz had a distinct star shaped tattoo in the center of his chest and two names or words tattooed on the front of each shoulder. Ortiz had his long hair pulled back and a puffy ponytail was made. Ortiz also had a groomed beard and would be considered to have a medium to skinny build.
Ortiz was positively identified after a still photo from the event was circulated over CrimeWatch and West Manchester Township PD’s Facebook Page.
A criminal history dated 7/30/2019 revealed that Ortiz has five (5) prior retail thefts that he has been found guilty of committing.
Based on the above information, an arrest warrant was issued for Jonathan Ortiz to answer the charges of: Retail Theft, Felony 3.
