On 3/31/2019 at 1607 hrs. an Officer with the West Manchester Township Police Department was dispatched to Walmart located a 1000 Town Center Drive., in West Manchester Township for a report of retail thefts that had taken place. Upon arrival, the Officer met with a Loss Prevention Officer. The LPO stated that on 3/22/2019 he was was alerted by an assistant manager though email that the garden entrance/exit was found unlocked at a time when it should have been secured. The LPO looked into this and found that a male, later identified as Donald Englehart, had exited that set of doors with a suitcase inside of a shopping cart. The LPO’s investigation revealed that at 2317 hrs. on 3/21/2019 Englehart entered Walmart and pushed a shopping cart to the clothing department. There Englehart took articles of clothing and put them into the shopping cart and went to the electronics department. Englehart was seen on surveillance selecting a projector and placing it beneath the clothes. Englehart then places five Playstation 4 games and five Xbox 1 games in the cart before walking to the luggage isle and placing a black suitcase into the cart. With the merchandise inside of the luggage, Englehart turns on the power to the garden entrance/exit doors and leaves the store. Surveillance last captures Englehart walking north along the west side of the store pulling the rolling suitcase with him. This theft totaled $421.30.
The LPO then stated that he had received a second email on 3/30/2019 that the garden entrance/exit door were again unsecured. Additionally, there was a shopping cart nearby with men's clothing and a tag for luggage. When the LPO reviewed video from the previous night he found that Englehart had committed a similar theft on 3/29/2019. The LPO said that at 2329 hrs. Englehart entered the Walmart through the grocery entrance and walks to the clothing department where he selects men's clothing. He then can be seen on surveillance responding to the electronics department and selects a projector and removes the security device. Englehart again walks over to the video games and selects nine Xbox 1 games and six Playstation games. Englehart then selects an Atari flashback console and an Arcade Flashback console before going to luggage area. Englehart, similar to the above incident, takes a black piece of luggage and conceals the previously selected merchandise inside. Englehart then selects a Roomba vacuum and places that into his shopping cart and walks towards the lawn and garden entrance/exit. At 2358 hrs. Englehart unlocks the doors and leaves the store with the luggage containing merchandise and the Roomba vacuum. Englehart leaves the parking lot on foot and in the same direction as the above incident. This theft totaled $904.71.
On 4/8/2019 an Officer was checking local pawn shop databases for items that were taken in the above retail thefts. As the Officer was checking pawn shop listings from York Buy Sell Trade it showed that a Donald Andrew Englehart had taken in a portable projector on 3/21/2019. Knowing that this was a unique item taken from Walmart, the Officer decided to use JNET and Facebook to check for any resemblance, which it was then discovered that Englehart matched the actor.
Based on the above facts, the Officer filed 2 counts of F3 Retail Theft against Donald A. Englehart.
