Accident involving motorcycle and passenger vehicle in York new salem

On Saturday May 18, 2019 at approximately 1:10 PM West Manchester Township Police Department responded to the square in York New Salem for a traffic crash involving a motorcycle vs. passenger vehicle.

West Manchester Township Police and North Codorus Township Fire Department personnel treated two badly injured motorcyclists at the scene before they were both transported to York Hospital by ambulance.  Both patients are currently listed in critical condition.  Their names will be withheld at this time pending family notification.  The operator of the passenger vehicle was not injured.

West Manchester Township Police Department determined that a motorist traveling eastbound on George St collided with a motorcycle occupied by two persons.  The motorcycle was traveling southbound on Main St.  The collision occurred in the intersection.  Both motorcyclists were thrown from their vehicle.  Neither was wearing a helmet.

West Manchester Township Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the accident.  A complete accident reconstruction is currently underway.  Information will be released at such time that the cause of the accident is better understood.
