On 5/9/2019 at 1422 hours, an Officer from the West Manchester Township Police Department was dispatched to Walmart located at 1000 Town Center Drive, for a retail theft that had occurred were the actors had fled the scene in a vehicle.
York County Control advised that Walmart a Loss Prevention Officer, stated that the vehicle was a blue pickup truck with a tan/white topper and a registration of 5DK0397. The vehicle was to be occupied by an older male and female. As I was responding to Walmart on Carlisle Road, the Officer observed the vehicle matching that description traveling south on Carlisle Road. The vehicle then went west on the Route 30 bypass. The Officer was able to catch up and get behind the vehicle on Route 30. The Officer observed that the registration was the same. The Officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle with the assistance of another Officer. They took the male driver and female passenger, who was identified as the Defendant Amanda Prince, into custody. While in custody, the Officer spoke to the Defendant. The Officer advised her that she was a suspect in a retail theft and mirandized her. The Defendant stated to the Officer that she and her father were at Walmart. She stated that she went into the store while her father was outside in the vehicle. The Defendant stated that she had selected merchandise and placed it into a shopping cart. The Defendant stated that as she went to pay, she had forgotten her credit card out in the vehicle. Instead of keeping the cart with the merchandise in the store, the Defendant passed all points of sale and pushed the merchandise out of the store and into the parking lot. She was approached in the parking lot by the LPO. The Defendant left the cart behind and failed to return to the store with the LPO. The Officer obtained a picture from the store security footage showing the Defendant pushing the merchandise out of the store. The total value of the merchandise was $301.72 and was recovered by the LPO.
Based upon the information, Amanda Prince, was charged with 1 count of Retail Theft (M1).
