On 6/24/2019 at approximately 1520 hours, an Officer from the West Manchester Township Police Department received a call from York County Control who advised that Walmart loss prevention had two females apprehended for retail theft. The Officer responded and was met by the Loss Prevention Officer who is employed by Walmart. The LPO stated that he observed the two female subjects come into the store and remove numerous items of clothing with a total of $203.77 with the intent to deprive the store the value thereof.
The LPO reported that he observed the subjects with a bag of fourteen items (value of $97.12) they concealed in the house ware department. The LPO followed the subjects as they passed all points of check out and failed to pay. The LPO stopped the subjects and escorted them back to the office area. Dawn Elaine Lehr identified herself with a valid Pa. driver’s license and Berea Eaton ID herself with a Walmart pharmacy receipt (The Officer later I.D. Eaton through JNET.)
The Officer did advise both subjects of their rights and then searched each subject in the presence of two female Walmart employees. They also had a very large white bag in their possession with numerous Walmart items inside. The Officer questioned the subjects about the items and they stated that they were from a family member. The thirteen items still had Walmart tags attached and no receipt. The LPO took the items into his possession and said he would pull the video and see if they removed and concealed the items in question.
On 6/25/2019, the LPO advised the Officer he watched the video and the contents of the white bag were selected by the actors and transported to the house ware department and concealed. (Value of $106.65)
Based on the above information, both Berea Lee Eaton and Dawn Elaine Lehr were charged with 1 count Retail Theft, Misdemeanor.
