New Officer Welcomed to Spring Garden Police Department

On Monday, January 30, 2023, Spring Garden Township welcomed Michael L. Smith, III to the police department as our newest police officer. Officer Smith previously served as a Police Officer with the US Veterans Affairs Police Department assigned to the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. 

Prior to his law enforcement career, Officer Smith was in the US Marine Corps assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He is a combat veteran, serving combat deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan. During his military career, he was awarded the Navy Sea Service, Good Conduct, Global War on Terrorism, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Award(s).

Officer Smith was sworn-in on by Magisterial District Justice Jennifer Clancy on January 30, 2023. He will be assigned to the Patrol Division, and will begin the twelve week Field Training Program.
