York County QRT

The Newberry Township Police Department has two tactical officers that are affiliated with the York County Quick Response Team. The QRT is a team of officers from various police agencies around York County that provide specialized services to police departments when they encounter dangerous situations such as barricaded persons, hostage rescue situations, high risk warrants and many others.

Quick Response Team (QRT)

Officers assigned to the Tactical Team element of the QRT are required to undergo three weeks of SWAT training. The training is very physically demanding and requires officers to perform rigorous calisthenics and running for long distances. The training involves both physical training and tactical training culminating in completing real life scenarios. Officers become certified tactical officers upon graduation. Tactical officers receive additional training with their equipment and attend biological and chemical training.
