On 3/20/22, an officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that kept traveling over the center double lines. The vehicle stop was performed in front of 10 New Bridgeville Road. PA State Police just happened to be driving by and stopped to assist. The driver was identified as JOSE ANTONIO TORRES, JR. There was a 17/W/F passenger in the front seat. When Torres exited the vehicle he had in his possession what was suspected to be marijuana in a baggie in his front open pocket in clear view. Torres was given standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The juvenile's mother was notified and came to take custody of the juvenile. Torres was then transported to Central Booking for a BAC. Torres was processed and released. The green plant like substance did field test positive for Marijuana and was sent to PSP Forensic Lab for testing.
On 5/1/22, the BAC results were received and charges were filed at MDJ 19-3-01 Judge Fishel’s Office. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled.
Torres is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
