On 5/21/22, Officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 2600 block of Craley Road, involving a motorcycle. Upon arriving on the scene, a Firefighter advised that the male involved had attempted to leave the scene several times. The male had blood all over his face, as well as his right upper eye. Officer requested the male’s driver license and was handed 2 bank cards. He then handed officers his driver license and was identified as Matthew Boyd of Brogue, PA. Boyd was having trouble with his balance and there was an overwhelming odor of alcoholic based beverage coming from his breath. Officer suggested Boyd sit down until the ambulance arrived due to his balance issues.
Witnesses and property owners stated that they heard the motorcycle coming at a high rate of speed and that it hit the fence and then landed in the neighbors yard. There was a parked vehicle that had minor damage as well.
Boyd became upset and agitated in the ambulance so an officer followed the ambulance to request a blood test. Due to Boyd’s injuries, a Search Warrant was obtained for a blood test.
On 5/23/22, the Search Warrant was issued to the hospital and the forensic laboratory. On 6/8/22, the blood results were received and the appropriate charges were filed against MATTHEW BOYD at MDJ 19-3-01 Judge Fishel’s Office. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled.
Boyd is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
