I-83 South Exit 35 ramp closure
Unless there is an unforeseen weather delay, the intersection of Wyndamere Road and the new portion of Industrial Drive (the old Yorktown Road) will re-open on Monday July 15th. However, that means the I-83 South exit ramp at Exit 35 will be closed for several weeks to complete the road construction project.
We recommend drivers who would normally use this exit get off at Exit 36 and turn left on Fishing Creek Road, then right on Old York Road, and finally right again on Wyndamere Road. All of these intersections are controlled by traffic signals and are easy to navigate. This will take you to the new Industrial Drive intersection. There will be signs indicating how to get to the Summit Diner, Red Cedar Family Practice and other businesses in the area off of Industrial Drive.
However, drivers may also choose to take the approved detour, which is the one marked by signs. It has vehicles continuing south on I-83 to exit 34, where you would need to turn around and get back on I-83 north to Exit 35. Drivers would turn right at the end of the ramp and then right on to Wyndamere Road (not controlled by a traffic signal).
The southern portion of Industrial Drive near M.D.J. Gross, Red Cedar and KoKoMo's will temporarily be only one lane southbound and vehicles cannot go north after leaving those establishments. All traffic will have to continue south to get on I-83. If drivers need to go north, they should take Exit 34 and turn around to get on I-83 north.
We are hopeful that the road construction in this area will finally be finished by the end of August.
